Mount Wise School Children start their rehearsals

July 8, 2010

Bounding with energy Attik Dance got these kids to work up a sweat!  They were rolling around on the floor and leaping into the air, then, once they thought it was all over, Attik made them start again!

In one session they managed to choreograph two dances, which they will rehearse over the next few weeks.  We have a mini film clip for you to view plus some photos!

Pottery Quay kids photograph their local area for Posterity

July 8, 2010

The kids at Pottery Quay took to the streets in their area photographing the landmarks and sites from their perspective.  Ok so we got some fingers and thumbs, a lot of photos of each other, but they also took some very interesting photographs of what they think is important in their area.  All the photos are below, its interesting what kids see, take a lok to see the world from their point of view…

Mount Wise School Kids learn how to make costumes…

June 22, 2010

They did all the measuring up themselves, cut the fabrics and pinned it all in place.  Lets hope that once the seamstresses have finished with them they all hold together :O

They did a fine job, and had fun spray-painting, tacking and sewing.

Have a look!

Mount Wise School Kids plan Performance

June 22, 2010

The children at Mount Wise School are planning a big production with CoastNet and Attik Dance and they had their first session.

They did costume design, fashion drawings and explored the array of creatures they could use in their production.

After all that hard work they deserved a break, so they did some funky underwater games in the hall to let off some steam!

June 22, 2010

In preparation for their film, the kids at Pottery quay did a movement and dance session where the older kids choreographed a dance for the younger kids.

Well, they tried … the little kids did not really get it!  But bless them, they had fun anyway.  Take a look!

Waterfront Festival at Mount Wise Pools

June 3, 2010

What was the weather like where you were this Bank Holiday Weekend?  It was chucking it down with rain here in Plymouth, just in time for our Spring Waterfront Festival!

However, despite the rain the stall holders and children’s amusers put on their best smiley faces and persevered, and its a good job they did.  At 8.30am the skies were grey and the rain was smashing the concrete, but by 10am the skies had cleared and people started to show up!

A good few hours of fun were had and we had music, food, games boatrides and fun until about 2pm when the heavens opened again.

400 people attended the event, and the RNIB raised £42.85 so it was worth their while, and the coffee bar was busy all day.

Team building and tent shenanigans!

June 3, 2010

In an attempt to build relationships and teamworking ability the Bright Futures Boys attempted to put up a nine man tent WITHOUT the instructions!

so far ...... it has not fallen down ...

v

Delegating responsibility was the first hurdle and after some chopping and changing someone took charge!  It was great fun to watch their frustration when the youth workers only did EXACTLY what they were told to do, and if they were not told – then they did nothing!

Mask-making and cookery! Whats that all about?

May 21, 2010

The kids at Pottery Quay cooked up their creative juices this week and created mask of sea creatures – real or otherwise – that they thought lived in the sea around Devonport.  There were starfish, and sharks, and octopuses and strange feathery things that I have no idea what they were.  They looked fab in the finihsed products.

Then the older kids had their session and they just decided to make buns.  But they were really tasty.  However, someone ate far to many …..

Who ate all the pies?

Who ate all the pies?
